MATT CHARLES - SLIDING LODGE PERFORMANCE HORSES
I didn't grow up in a horse riding family.
I had an interest in horses for a while but I was even more interested in chasing cows. But first I needed to learn how to ride. My first ride on horse was at one of my birthday parties where mum and dad had organised a pony by the name of 'Honey' to be there for pony rides. Eventually I got involved more into horses when I worked as a Jackaroo at Buckingham Station for 9 months. I didn't start riding until I was 20 years old! I returned back home and had leased two different horses and without my parents knowing, I decided to buy the second one, a part bred Arab (Bronson), and have always supported me since. I now had the horse bug and wanted to get involved in Reining. I was introduced to Nils Euren who introduced me to many trainers, and I've worked with Rob Lawson for almost 10 years, and have learnt heaps from just watching other trainers. I have ridden with Martin Larcombe over in the USA, and will be riding with Joe Schmidt to improve my skills and learn new things. I'd like to thank all the past and previous clients that have given me the opportunity to work with themselves and their horses ,and the support my sponsors have given me, thank you.
